Especially if you are not on the Disney Dining Plan and considering getting these for your family! There are certain instances where they are a definite sure bet to get. As well as other instances where you may want to skip getting them!
What Are Disney Refillable Mugs?
Disney refillable mugs are reusable resort mugs. They allow guests staying at Disney World hotels to enjoy unlimited refills of select beverages during their stay. These mugs are available for purchase at Quick Service locations inside Disney resorts, and are valid for up to 14 days.

You’ll find a variety of beverages available to use with the refillable mugs. Soft drinks like Coke and Diet Coke, as well as sports drinks like Powerade or Vitamin Water are typically available at the refill stations.
Some resorts even have a Freestyle Machine with a large number of flavor options available.

Confirmed Freestyle Machine Disney Resort locations include:
- Caribbean Beach Pool Locations
- Centertown Market – Caribbean Beach Resort
- Gasparilla Island Grill – Grand Floridian Resort
- Polynesian Tower Pool Area
- Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory – Port Orleans-French Quarter
- Yacht Club Marketplace – Yacht Club Resort
It’s my hope that they will continue adding these at all of the different resort locations! Check this list as they continue adding locations!
How Much Do Disney Refillable Mugs Cost?
Disney refillable mugs currently cost around $22.99 (plus tax) and refills are unlimited while the cup is activated. The mug is valid for the length of your resort stay, whether that’s two nights or two weeks (up to 14 days).

While the upfront cost can feel high, the value really depends on how often you use it and how much time you spend at your resort. If you find yourself getting a quick service breakfast at the resorts, or wanting to grab a drink in the evening after heading back to your resort, the mug can pay for itself quite quickly!

Individual drinks are typically priced around $4, so if you will use the cup at least 6 times during your trip you’ll break even. And if you’ll have even more uses across a number of days, it becomes an even better deal!
Resort Refillable Mug on the Disney Dining Plan
If you’re using the Disney Dining Plan, the resort refillable mug is included with your package! Making this perk an easy value for families staying on property. Each guest on the dining plan receives a refillable mug. These mugs can be used at resort beverage stations for unlimited refills of soda, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate throughout your stay (up to 14 days).

This special perk of the dining plan can be a great added value for families!
When Disney Refillable Mugs Are Worth It
For many families, purchasing the Disney Resort refillable mugs can absolutely be worth it! Especially when they fit naturally into your daily routine.
- Trips of 5+ days where you’ll have at least 1 meal per day at the Resort Quick Service.
- You’ll be spending a lot of time at your Disney Resort.
- You like grabbing a fountain drink after coming in from the theme parks in the evenings.
If your trip is over four to five days, and you’ll be at your resort quick service every day, this Refillable Mug will likely be a good option for you. Individual drinks for purchase are typically around $4, so just doing the simple math you should use the mug at least 6 times during your trip to approximately break even.

If you drink a fountain drink every morning or enjoy soda throughout the day, the mug can quickly pay for itself.

They’re also a great value if you plan to spend time at your resort. Whether that’s pool days, relaxed afternoons, or evenings back at the hotel, since it’s easy to grab refills without pulling out your wallet.
When Disney Refillable Mugs Are NOT Worth It
There are also situations where Disney refillable mugs may not be the best value for your trip.
- Short duration trips (1-2 days)
- You’ll be in the theme park for your entire day, open to close!
- You don’t drink soft drinks
- You don’t plan on visiting the Resort Quick Service location
If your vacation is very theme park heavy with early mornings and late nights, you may not spend enough time at your resort to take advantage of the beverage stations. At larger resorts, having a room far from the food court can also make refillable mugs feel inconvenient, especially after a long day in the parks when extra walking is the last thing you want to do.

Additionally, if you don’t regularly drink soda or soft drinks and mostly stick to water, which is always free at Disney, the mug likely won’t provide much added value.
And on short stays of one or two nights, it can be hard to use the mug often enough to justify the upfront cost.
What Does Our Family Think of the Resort Refillable Mugs?
While it may not work for every trip, our family actually ends up paying outright to get the Disney Resort Refillable Mugs on almost all of our trips. We like being able to get Vitamin Water or Powerade right at the fountain machines to keep everyone hydrated.

The convenience of being able to grab a quick drink in the mornings and evenings is helpful for our family. Plus we do like spending a bit of time at our resort pool. And we can bring our refillable mugs along to the pool as well. On most of our trips, getting the mugs for everyone in our family just makes sense!

It should be noted that we also very rarely get the Disney Dining Plan. Using the Annual Passholder discounts usually work out to be a better deal than keeping track of credits. However if you’ll have the Disney Dining Plan, you will get these mugs as a perk. Plan how you’ll use it in your day to make sure you take full advantage of the benefit!
