Roundup Rodeo BBQ at Disney’s Hollywood Studios [Review for Families]
One of the newest restaurants at Walt Disney World inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios is Roundup Rodeo BBQ. This table service restaurant is situated at the entrance to Toy Story Land and features Woody and his pals throughout the restaurant. This meal is not a character meal, so you do not meet the characters themselves, but rather you are transported into the world of toys and eat your meal as a toy sized human. (Make sure to keep an eye out for Andy!)

Let’s look at the pros and cons of this Disney dining experience for families, and whether it is a meal that would be a fit for your family to book on an upcoming Disney vacation!
Roundup Rodeo BBQ Dining Experience
This restaurant was a much needed addition to the busy Toy Story Land area inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Prior to the opening of Roundup Rodeo BBQ, there was only one food service location – Woody’s Lunch Box, a quick service location with a limited selection. The restaurant features “boxes taped together by Andy” into a new rodeo arena for his toys. You’re invited to pull up a seat and have your meal amongst the toys.

To book a Roundup Rodeo BBQ experience, you’ll want to search for the Advanced Dining Reservation (ADR) in My Disney Experience on your opening booking day, which is 60 days plus length of stay from your travel dates. This will provide the most availability for dining reservations, although reservations for this meal frequently pop up even as you get closer to your travel dates.
This restaurant also will be participating in the 2024 Disney Dining Plan program, if you’re planning on utilizing the dining plan on your trip. However since it is not a character meal, there may be better selections on the list that would be a better value to use your dining credits.
Atmosphere at Roundup Rodeo BBQ
When you arrive at the restaurant, you’re transported to the world of toys and immediately feel immersed in Andy’s play area. There are large cutouts throughout the restaurants that feel very similar to Toy Story Midway Mania, and feature bright elements from the Toy Story stories. There are also life size (toy size?) models of Bo Peep and her sheep and different toy pieces scattered throughout the restaurant.

Dining at Disney’s Hollywood Studios can be a bit hit or miss, depending on your family’s preference… so really the most important distinction here beyond all of the great theming, is the menu.
True to the restaurant’s name, BBQ and meats are the predominant items featured in the family style meal at Roundup Rodeo BBQ.
You can alter some parts of the meal to feature more plant based options, however since it is family style – this changes the meal for everyone at the table. For families with more complex dining needs or multiple preferences, this could be a bit problematic. You have to start picking sides based on what can meet the common need for the whole table.

Food Options at RoundUp Rodeo BBQ
As the name of the restaurant implies, there is a heavy helping of meat served when you go with the tradition meat selection. The meat platter includes: Smoked ribs, Beef Brisket, Sausage, and BBQ chicken.

The sides were all delicious and you could make a meal out of those if you were so inclined. Our table chose the corn on the cob, mac and cheese, slaw, baked beans, and fried pickles. (Yes that was five choices. Our server gave us some pixie dust!)
The cheddar biscuits that came with the meal were absolutely delicious and definitely recommend trying those!

The selection of three salads was actually a highlight of the meal for me, with the watermelon and tomato cucumber salads being favorites.

We have a number of complex eating intolerances and preferences within our own family of four, so if visiting in the future as a family, we will opt to go with a plant based meal option instead of the meat platter. So it is nice that the table has the choice to go either with a meat main course or with the plant based option.
The desserts were super fun, but the Forky cupcake had to be the cutest one visually!

The pies in a jar were delicious though!

Add On Options
In addition to everything that is included, there are some add on options for both kids and adults that you can pay an extra charge to add to your meal.
Alcoholic beverages are available for an additional charge and on our trip there everyone at our table gave one a try. If you prefer fruity or light cocktails, I would give these a pass as there are better cocktails within Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the same price point.
Here’s the Whinnyin’ Whiskey Lemonade that had a fair bit of whiskey in it.

Overall Experience at Round Up Rodeo BBQ
One of the highlights of the experience were the servers and how they played into the experience. At certain times during your meal, you will hear across the restaurant “Andy’s Coming!” from the Green Army Men over the “radio” and all of the servers freeze in place.
Everyone waits until you get the all clear and then it is back to business as usual. This is a fun element of the meal that adds to the experience.
Our Rating of RoundUp Rodeo BBQ
We rated this one 4 stars because of the fun atmosphere and not walking away hungry. This wasn’t our favorite menu, so it gets deducted one star for selection. Everything came out hot and fresh, however the meats didn’t seem like the best cuts we’ve had on Disney property. This is a fun dining experience at Walt Disney World for families with young children, especially those that love Toy Story!
Overall, it was a good dining experience provides a TON of food! It’s worth trying once and a great fit for families that have Toy Story fans. Make sure you go into this one hungry!
