The Beak and Barrel Review for Families | Magic Kingdom Dining

When Disney introduces a new dining option inside the parks, I’m always eager to check it out. On my most recent visit to Magic Kingdom, I had the chance to try The Beak and Barrel, an all new lounge experience! Situated next to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Adventureland, this one will be a must visit for your family if you’re a pirates fan!

From the flavorful food to the welcoming atmosphere, this is one of those dining spots that immediately made my “must-return” list!

Check out the highlights of my experience at The Beak and Barrel below! Including who I think this location would be best for, and whether I would return here again!

A Fantastic Atmosphere at Beak and Barrel

Right when you step inside, the atmosphere at Beak and Barrel sets the tone for a fun and relaxing dining experience. The nautical inspired decor feels whimsical yet welcoming. Particularly pirates fans will enjoy going throughout the restaurant to look at all of the details throughout.

The space works equally well for a casual family break, an evening bite with friends, or even a date night stop while enjoying Magic Kingdom. It adds vibrant new option to the park’s lineup of unique dining locations. I even dressed up like a pirate for my first visit there to be as immersed as possible!

Seating here may not always be actually in seats, some of the areas are stand up tables only. We were in a stand up bar area located in the map room. So much like Oga’s Cantina, just note that you may need to stand during your experience here. (Although it should be noted they seemed to have a lot MORE seating here than at Oga’s!)

Just note that this is a lounge location with a 45-minute time limit and a small bites menu. So you won’t want to forgo a full meal reservation to go here, this is more an added bonus to your itinerary!

What’s on the Menu at The Beak and Barrel?

One of the highlights of my visit was the food. The small bites at Beak and Barrel were outstanding! I especially enjoyed the Island Provisions, which was a dipping tray with plantain chips, blue corn tortillas, and toasted flatbread to dip.

The sauces were a Mango Chutney, Garlic Chimichurri, Spiced Guava, and Zesty Culantro Cream dip. All of which were fantastic!

And the Cook’s Corn Griddle Cakes with Chicken was a flavorful compliment to our drinks as well.

I love when Disney creates menu items that feel special and memorable! The snack items on the menu here delivered both flavor and fun. I would reorder all of the small bites we tried on a return trip here!

Refreshing Drinks, Including Great Mocktails

No Disney lounge review is complete without talking about the drinks, and Beak and Barrel has a really interesting signature cocktail menu.

The favorite item that I ordered was the Treasure Trove mocktail. It was refreshing, came with some sweet treats, and a perfect choice for guests who want a festive beverage without alcohol. It’s one of those themed drinks that feels like part of the experience, and I’d happily order it again on my next visit.

I’m not big on alcohol, my cocktails have to basically be fruity with no hint of alcohol in them. So I tried the Hibiscus Rum Punch Royale, which features Puerto Rican rum, Hibiscus, Demerara, and Lime with Prosecco. I enjoyed the drink and while it may not be something I would get on every return trip, if you’re looking for a lighter option it should be a consideration. (I may ask them to make this with no rum on a future visit to give it a try!)

My Disney pal that went to the reservation with me tried the Salty Seas mARRRgarita, and she said it was fantastic! So if you enjoy margaritas, it is one to consider!

The food and drinks were a great compliment to the atmosphere and were all reasonably priced as well!

Menu Pricing at The Beak and Barrel

When it comes to pricing, The Beak and Barrel at Magic Kingdom falls right in line with other themed dining experiences in the park.

Appetizers and small plates are moderately priced (ranging from $12-$18), making them a great option for sharing among the family.

While specialty drinks like the Treasure Trove mocktail are priced around $13.75 and the mixed alcoholic drinks are in the $18-$20 range. There is one special drink that is priced currently at $46, however this comes with a souvenir mug as well.

Families can expect to spend a bit more here than at a quick service meal. The quality of the food, the creative flavors, and the overall experience make it worth the price. It’s a dining stop that feels special while still being approachable for most family budgets.

Family Friendly Vibe Yet Great for Adults

One of the things that impressed me most about Beak and Barrel was how it balanced being a fun, slightly more “grown-up” location while still being family friendly. In my opinion if you’re considering visiting with kids, it will be the best fit for families with kids that are ages 8 and up. They shouldn’t mind being in a loud space with occasional storm sounds that happen from time to time.

We loved Rummy the Parrot, who serves as the chatty parrot quartermaster of The Beak and Barrel! There are also occasional “shows” throughout your dining time where every participates.

Whether you’re traveling with older kids, teens, or just adults, the menu and atmosphere work well for everyone. Since it’s located in Magic Kingdom, a popular destination for families, I’m glad they kept this one family friendly and allowed all ages to have some fun here.

It’s a place you can feel comfortable bringing your older kids along while still enjoying a unique experience that feels unique.

Getting a Reservation for The Beak and Barrel

As one of the newest dining experiences, reservations for The Beak and Barrel are tough to get right now! It should be easier as time goes on, so if your trip is still a ways in the future make sure you plan ahead to grab your reservation!

Check the Disney dining system at 60 days (plus length of stay up to 10 days for Disney Resort guests) for your desired dining time. If you can’t find a reservation, make sure to setup an alert through a system like MouseDining. This will let you know when a reservation becomes available!

The immersive atmosphere at The Beak and Barrel is one where you can be seated in different rooms and with different groups. This means that this is one experience that you can return to in the future and get a totally different experience!
