What to Pack for a July Disney Trip
The summer at Walt Disney World is hot and humid. There can be occasional rain showers, but it typically stays pretty sunny. So you’ll want to arrive prepared with lightweight clothing that works in heat and also items like sunglasses to keep you protected from the sun.
In warmer temperatures, I often wear sundresses with bike shorts underneath, as it is the coolest option to wear while walking around the parks. Opting for athletic gear that has sweat wicking fabric to keep you dry in the humidity can work great as well, and you’ll also want to have some ponchos or rain gear for pop up showers.
Taking frequent breaks in the summer also helps to make sure you stay hydrated and get out of the sun for a few minutes.
Traveling in July Packing Tips
- Be prepared for pop up showers with a packable jacket or poncho.
- Pools and water parks are essential this time of year! We like to bring multiple swimsuits!
- Be prepared for the heat and sun by bringing heat preparedness items with you.
We enjoy visiting Walt Disney World in the summer, but planning ahead to make sure you have all of your heat essentials is imperative this time of year.
July Disney Outfit Inspo
Wearing outfits inspired by characters and attractions in the theme parks is one of my favorite ways to plan an outfit! Check out these easy Disneybound Outfit Ideas for moms to wear!
Below are some of my outfit examples from our previous July trips! I packed plenty of lightweight clothing items to wear.

I also brought some lightweight t-shirts to wear with skirts, that were cool enough to wear around the parks or just lounge around the resort!

We also spent plenty of time at the pool when we were there in July! Multiple swimsuits and coverups were a must!

I personally like wearing sandals in the theme parks that give me support but allow my feet to not overheat, so I brought flip flops for the pool and sandals to wear in the parks. Make sure your selected shoe choices allow you to walk lots of steps every day!
Special Events in July
Celebrate Independence Day at Walt Disney World! Disney is already host to some of the best fireworks shows year round, but celebrating July 4th at Disney has lots of special surprises as well!
From themed treats to pool activities at the resorts, there will be a whole host of different activities centering around the Independence Day holiday at the beginning of the month.
Keep an eye out for special character meet-and-greets, themed merchandise releases, and special fireworks shows at both Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. These are amped up versions of Disney’s fireworks that are special to celebrate the holiday.
Summer Disney World Packing List
It’s hot and humid in the summer in Florida, so make sure to plan ahead to beat the heat! Sunscreen and lightweight, breathable clothing are a must. We also like to bring personal fans, cooling towels, and hats for our summer trips.

This list includes items to beat the heat in case the temperatures will be hotter when you are there. Towards the end of the month you may start to see humidity and temperatures increase even more.
Disney World’s July Weather
In July, the weather at Walt Disney World is typically hot and humid, with average high temperatures reaching the low to mid-90s Fahrenheit (32-35°C). The humidity is high, and there are frequent afternoon thunderstorms, so it’s advisable to be prepared for rain showers.

In addition to taking frequent breaks, when we visit in the summer we always have items like cooling towels, hats, parasols, and more with us.
When you’re visiting in July, take extra precautions to stay cool and hydrated while enjoying the parks. It’s also a good idea to check the local weather forecast just prior to your trip to know what to plan for day to day.
Why Disney World in July?
School is out and it is a great time to visit Walt Disney World, even with the hottest temperatures of the year! Crowds can be lower than other times of the year because of the temperatures and with plenty of breaks throughout the day and time planned in for water activities, going during the summer can be a great family experience.
Visiting Walt Disney World in the summer makes it a great time to visit the water parks, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon, and we also love spending a good amount of time in the pool at our resort in the summer as well.

The necessary mid-day breaks can actually lead to a more relaxing vacation. The heat almost forces you to slow down. On our summer trips, we always take a mid-day break and head back to our resort, so we are not in the parks in the hottest part of the day.
Check out our Best Time to Visit Walt Disney World post to check out our recommended weeks to visit in July.

Other Park Bag Essentials
You’ll find these essentials handy to have in your Disney park bag all year long:
- Portable charger: With all the photo-taking, ride-waiting, and app-checking you’ll be doing, your phone’s battery will likely drain quickly. Bring a portable charger to keep your devices charged throughout the day.
- Rain poncho or jacket: Those Florida pop up showers happen frequently, so it’s a good idea to pack a rain poncho or light packable jacket.
- Autograph book: If you’re a fan of the characters, bring an autograph book for the characters to sign.
- Snacks and water bottle: Disney World allows outside food and drinks, so bring some snacks and a refillable water bottle to save money and stay hydrated throughout the day.
- Backpack or bag: You’ll need a bag to carry all your essentials, such as sunscreen, sunglasses, and souvenirs. Bring a comfortable backpack or bag that won’t weigh you down during the day.

July Disney Touring Tips
Make the most of your summer trip to Walt Disney World with these touring tips!
- Take an afternoon break to recharge at the resort and spend some time at the pool.
- Plan in a water park day to maximize your water fun!
- Pick out your top things to see that day every morning, so your family has a plan of the “must do” items at each theme park or location. Pick your top 3 rides everyone would like to do, 2 experiences, and the top place you’d like to grab food!
What else should you bring to Disney World?
During the summer, we almost always know that we will be headed back to the resort room in the middle of the day – but I pack my bag as if we are going to be gone all day. Just in case.
Snacks help keep everyone fed in case of being stuck in a line and it is a good idea to bring your own water bottles to have water handy. I like to keep multiple phone chargers in my park bag, because I know I will be taking lots of photos.

Travel Documents
You’ll want to make sure to remember these items during your trip to Disney World:
- Valid government-issued ID: This can be a driver’s license, passport, or other government-issued ID. You will need this to enter the park and to purchase alcohol if you are of legal drinking age.
- Disney World tickets: Make sure to bring your tickets with you to the park. You can either print them out or have them on your phone through the My Disney Experience app.
- MagicBands: If you have a MagicBand, make sure to bring it with you to the park. This will serve as your park ticket, hotel room key, and can be used to make purchases throughout the park.
- Reservation confirmations: If you have made any dining reservations or Lightning Lane selections, these confirmations will be on your phone.
Health and Safety Items
There are First Aid Stations available in all of the theme parks that you can get wellness supplies, as well as use for a quiet place for mothers with little ones. These items below I like to keep on hand, just in case!
- Hand sanitizer: Always good to have at meals or after going through a ride line, keep this handy to make sure little ones don’t pick up germs.
- Sunscreen: That Florida sun is hot! Re-apply sunscreen throughout the day to make sure you don’t get a sunburn. (And I like to travel with a Sun Bum After Sun spray, just in case!)
- First-aid kit: I like having items on hand like bandaids, ointment, and bug spray sticks to make sure we can take care of any minor bumps or bites that may happen during our travels.
- Reusable water bottle: You can fill this up throughout the parks to stay hydrated.
Food and Snacks
If your family wants to have breakfast in the resort room, consider having an Amazon Fresh order dropped off at bell services. You can keep items like GoGo Squeez, yogurt, cereal, and more on hand to have in the room for quick snacks.
Plan snack breaks into your day, and while there are plenty of kiosks and options throughout the parks, it is always a good idea to have some snacks on hand in your park bag. Especially for little ones that may have a set diet or food preferences.
One option in addition to asking for cups of water at quick service restaurants is to bring a reusable water bottle. Ask for your free glass of water and then keep your water bottle replenished as you tour the parks.
