What to Take to Disney World in 2023
You’ll want to pack all of the essentials that your family will need during your time at Disney. This will vary from family to family, and will be largely based on the ages of your travel party. In general though, you’ll want to have the specific snacks on hand for pickier (or younger!) eaters, and any specific items you use like diapers or formula that may not be as easy to source once you’ve arrived at Walt Disney World.
If you do forget something, you can always put in an Amazon Prime order to have items delivered to your resort. This can be a quick way to replenish something you’ve run out of during your trip, or have forgotten at home.
You’ll definitely want to make sure to have all prescription medicines, contacts, glasses, or other items that cannot be easily purchased away from home packed in your carry on bag, to ensure that they do not accidentally go missing if your luggage decides to take a detour on the way to Disney!
In addition to all of those essentials, you’ll want to pack for each member of the family:
- Comfortable clothing for each day of your trip
- Shoes that can do a lot of walking (bring at least two pairs to rotate between from day to day)
- Undergarments
- Pajamas
- Swimsuit & Coverup
- Flip Flops or Swim shoes
- Toiletries
- Personal items like sunglasses and/or MagicBands
Below are some of our favorite outfit ideas for moms:

Minnie Tee / Polka Dot Skirt / Bow Scrunchie / Character Wristlet / Loungefly Backpack / Black Sandals
We also pack each child’s personal entertainment items (electronic, books, and otherwise) in their own backpacks. Once they are grade school age, they can either wear those through the airport or keep those by their seat in the car for a road trip to Disney. This ensures that you don’t overpack a single carry on bag.
What to Wear at Disney World in 2023
Comfort is key when you’re visiting Disney Parks! You’ll want to be sure to wear shoes that you can walk a lot of steps in, and wear clothing that you know will be comfortable for the weather and walking. Some days, you can walk upwards of 20,000+ steps when you’re at a Disney theme park, so rotating shoes from day to day can also be a great way to save your feet!
Many families opt to wear coordinating shirts when they are at Walt Disney World and this can be fun, especially to get group photos – but it is not a necessity. This would be one area where you can really save if you already wear attire that your family members own. Or if you want to pick family matching shirts out for one day of the trip, you can maximize getting photos together on that day.
It is something that is fun for some families, but definitely not mandatory to still have a great time!
What to Bring to a Disney Theme Park
Inside your theme park bag, you’ll want to bring the essentials that you’ll need for a day at the theme parks. These should be items that will help keep you comfortable during the day, and to have on hand in the event they are needed.
These items are perfect to have on hand in your theme park bag:
- Cooling Towels and/or Personal Fan for the hottest months of the year
- Sunscreen
- First Aid Kit
- Portable Phone Charger
- Water Bottle
- Snacks for Little ones
- Resealable Bags
- Wet Wipes
- Ponchos
- Mouse Ears
- Autograph Book

If you don’t want to carry around your park bag in the parks, the theme parks have locker rentals available at the front of each theme park for $10-$15 per day. This can be a great way to keep an extra change of clothing on hand if you anticipate it will be needed, but not have to carry it on rides. Most rides at Walt Disney World accommodate bringing your bag on the ride with you, and if they do not like on TRON Lightcycle / Run, complimentary lockers are provided at the ride entrance area to hold loose items.
