Why We Love These Park Bag Essentials
The items from our essentials list above will keep you covered throughout a majority of the months of the year. A round up of the image above and links to some different options of items we use on our own trips!
- Mouse Ears: As our name suggests, this is most definitely an essential item!
- Sunglasses: Florida is sunny a majority of the year and even if you start off the day overcast, you’ll want to be prepared for sun. I personally wear DIFF Eyewear sunnies, because I love the variety of styles and durability.
- Ponchos & Rain Gear: Pop up showers can happen throughout the day, be prepared with a disposable poncho. I also love this packable jacket and used it quite a bit on my last trip!
- Autograph Book: Get one of these before you arrive or when you get to the parks, if you want a cool souvenir from your trip – having characters sign a unique item is a fun way to get that!
- Portable Charger: Keep your phone charged up while on the go. I typically have to charge my phone 2-3 times on theme park days! I use this double USB charger to be able to charge two items at one time!
- Personal Fan: Stay cool with a personal fan! (This is an absolute must in the summer!!)
- Sunscreen: Stay protected by the sun and carry some in your park bag to apply mid-day. I like the Coola brand shown above for an easy spray on application.
- Spray Mister Fan: Another warmest weather item, a bit of spray on hot days is a welcome relief! Add misting to your fan for a refreshing spritz!
- First Aid Kit: Be prepared for scrapes and shoe issues when you’re not right by one of the in park First Aid Centers. Welly also makes these mini versions of their first kit!
- Cooling Towels: In the warmest months, these will keep your temperature cooler and they are reusable each day.
- Hip Bag: All of your most important items can be stowed away in a hip bag, to be able to wear on rides and have easy access to your phone or cards. I love this crescent shaped bag to wear in the parks.
- Backpack: As for the bag itself to use, we love a lightweight backpack that is perfect for stowing items away in!
Other Items To Pack
Depending on your family needs and how you are planning your trip, you may always want to include items like snacks or entertainment items in your park bag.
If you have little ones, keeping some of their favorite snacks on hand can help in lines and also while waiting for reservations. We liked tossing items like travel Imagine Ink pads into our travel bags with preschoolers, to keep them entertained during wait times.

Packing by Theme Park
If you plan to visit specific theme parks during your stay, these helpful tips may help you pack all of the essentials based on the park you’ll be visiting!
Magic Kingdom
For a day at Magic Kingdom, there are lots of treat stands and rides for everyone in the family. This park is laid out well and is easy to get from place to place as needed. There are lots of character opportunities at this theme park, so you’ll want to make sure to have all of your autograph supplies here!
EPCOT
The World Showcase is the perfect place to try lots of new cuisine options, but it also offers little shade as you’re walking from country to country. EPCOT is a great park to carry a parasol in the hotter months (visit China to buy one in the park!) and make sure to carry some extra sunscreen to reapply halfway around the showcase!
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Disney’s Hollywood Studios has a variety of themed areas, but fewer quick service options than other parks. Especially if you’re across the park from the one your family would prefer.
To save time, you may want to pack your favorite snacks to keep kids occupied between activities or getting from one park are to the next. Over by Tower of Terror there is a row of quick service restaurants that make for an excellent snack stop if you can time your snack break while in that location.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Disney’s Animal Kingdom can be hot because of all of the extra vegetation. Bring a misting fan and extra hair ties to stay cool. This is an excellent park to do a lot of animal siting, so make sure to have your camera ready!
Planning What to Wear
One of the most fun parts of planning your Disney vacation can be planning what to wear! Our family loves coordinating our family outfits to match the theme park, and also wearing clothing inspired by our favorite characters and attractions.

We also have put together a number of guides to help plan your Disney park day outfits!
