Do You Really Need a Golf Cart at Fort Wilderness?

In our opinion, having a golf cart at Fort Wilderness is a big part of the experience! In fact, after staying there a number of times I don’t think I would consider a stay there without one.

If you’ve never been to Fort Wilderness before, it is a large and spread out resort. Your cabin (or campsite) assignment may be in a more remote location of the facility. There are central bus stops scattered throughout, but if you rely on the bus system this will add additional transportation time that you’ll need to wait for an additional bus. Plus you’ll need to be prepared to walk a distance from that bus stop to your cabin location.

Having the golf cart to get around is part of the fun of staying here in our opinion! And we highly recommend that you either rent a golf cart from Disney or bring your own golf cart with you!

Where the Fort Wilderness Golf Cart Rental Is Located

When you arrive at Fort Wilderness, head to the Resort Outpost building! This is the main check-in location for the resort. And right outside is the golf cart rental.

You’ll want to have Bell Services bring your luggage to your cabin in their van, but from the check-in area you can pick up your golf cart and drive right to your cabin or campsite!

How Much Do Golf Cart Rentals Cost at Fort Wilderness?

Currently golf cart rentals are priced at $75 (4 seater) to $100 (6 seater) per day, and tax is included in that price.

Availability may vary and we’ve found that the 6 seater golf carts go very quickly! We luckily only ever need a 4 seater and they’ve always been available during our stays. I would recommend calling to reserve the golf cart as soon as you have your resort reservations, if within 1 year of the visit.

While outside rentals are not allowed to be brought on property at Fort Wilderness, you can bring a golf cart you own with you! Many families that are staying in their own RV opt to do this here.

This was a standout golf cart that we saw on one of our first trips to Fort Wilderness!! We thought this was such a cute design!

There is also a large parking lot available near the front entrance. There you can leave trailers that are attached to trucks for hauling a golf cart down to the site.

You’ll need to be prepared to show both your driver’s license and proof of insurance on the golf cart. These are required if you’re bringing your own cart onsite. Additionally the Fort Wilderness staff will have you sign an agreement and waiver.
