October Weather at Disney World

October brings slightly cooler temperatures to Orlando, with daytime highs averaging between 70 to 85°F. The humidity is lower than in the summer, but you can still expect the occasional afternoon rain shower.

Early in the month feels more like summer, while late October can sometimes bring breezy evenings. Packing with layers in mind is a smart strategy. We have been some years where it has still gotten to near 90°F even at the end of the month, so still be prepared for heat!

What’s Happening at Disney World in October

October is a super fun month at Walt Disney World because the parks are full of seasonal events and extra magic! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party takes over Magic Kingdom on select nights, with trick-or-treating, special parades, fireworks, and plenty of spooky fun for the whole family.

Over at EPCOT, the International Food & Wine Festival is in full swing. You’ll find delicious bites and drinks from around the world, along with live entertainment. It’s a great time to visit with friends so you can split plates and try more food!

The resorts and parks are also decorated with festive fall touches, from pumpkin displays on Main Street, U.S.A. to autumn themed treats at bakeries and quick service spots. October really brings together cooler weather, festive decor, and unique entertainment, making it a magical time to visit.

October Specific Packing Essentials

One of my favorite things about visiting in October is experiencing the Halloween fun! Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party transforms Magic Kingdom with costumes, spooky treats, and festive parades.

To make the most of it, here are a few things you won’t want to leave home without:

  • Costumes or Festive Outfits:  Whether you’re dressing up for the Halloween party or just adding a touch of fall flair, October is the perfect time to pack themed outfits. Kids can go all out with costumes, and adults can enjoy festive t-shirts, pumpkin-patterned Minnie ears, or Disney-bounding in seasonal colors.
  • Light Jacket or Cardigan:  Evenings may get cooler, especially toward the end of the month. A light layer is perfect for nighttime fireworks or walking back to your resort after a long day in the parks.
  • Halloween Themed Accessories:  This is the season for pumpkin Mickey ears, spooky Loungefly bags, and festive jewelry. They make your photos even more magical!
  • Extra Room in Your Suitcase: October means EPCOT’s International Food & Wine Festival is happening, along with plenty of Halloween merchandise. Leave space (or pack a foldable tote) for those irresistible souvenirs!

It’s also a great time to sport Disneybounds inspired by your favorite characters throughout your trip!

One of my favorite rides is the Haunted Mansion, so I always love when I can wear an outfit inspired by it! Even better during Spooky Season!
