Why Would You Want to Use a Minnie Van at Disney World?

There are a few big reasons families choose Minnie Van service instead of Disney buses, boats, the Skyliner, or a standard rideshare.

The biggest reason is convenience. Minnie Vans provide direct transportation, which means you don’t have to wait for multiple resort stops or figure out transfers. That can be a huge help when you’re heading to a dining reservation, trying to make it to rope drop, or getting back to your hotel with tired kids at the end of the day.

They’re also especially helpful for families traveling with young children. Each standard Minnie Van can accommodate up to 6 guests.

Another reason guests like them is the overall experience. Minnie Van drivers are specially trained professional drivers who can give guests tips and answer questions about Disney World or other Disney-related topics while they complete the ride.

How Does the Minnie Van Service Work?

Minnie Van service works through the Lyft app. Once you’re at Walt Disney World, you can open the app, enter your destination, confirm your pickup spot, and scroll through the vehicle options until you see Minnie Van.

The app will show you the fare estimate before you book, and payment is handled directly in Lyft. You can also track the vehicle in the app as it heads to you.

Getting a Minnie Van from the Airport

This is the part many Disney guests are most curious about: yes, Minnie Van airport service does exist, but it is not available to everyone. This recently added airport service from Orlando International Airport (MCO) to Walt Disney World is currently for Deluxe Resort guests.

This is a recent addition to Minnie Van services and can be a great option if you are traveling with small children and a lot of luggage!

According to Disney’s official transportation FAQ, Minnie Van airport service to and from Orlando International Airport (MCO) is available for guests staying at Disney Deluxe Resort hotels, Disney Deluxe Villa Resort hotels, and Club Level rooms. To book, call Disney at (407) 828-3500, 2 to 60 days head of your anticipated ride date to make a reservation.

Currently it is priced at $249 one-way + tax & gratuity ($498 round-trip, plus add-ons) and you’ll want to make sure to book the airport Minnie Van service in advance. They recommend that you book approximately 2 to 60 days in advance for the most availability.

So if you’re staying at a Value or Moderate Resort, you will not be able to book the Minnie Van service from the airport. In that case, you’ll want to look at other transportation options instead. We typically book a Comfort+ or Professional Driver on Lyft from MCO to arrive at Walt Disney World in those instances!

For eligible guests, though, airport Minnie Van service can be a very appealing choice! It gives you a more private, direct ride to your resort and can be especially nice after a long travel day with kids. It will be one of the more expensive options though, with ride pricing from MCO airport currently around $200 one-way to arrive at a Disney World Deluxe Resort.

What Does a Minnie Van at Disney World Cost?

Minnie Van pricing is not a flat rate. Disney states that prices vary based on the distance traveled from your pickup location to your destination within Walt Disney World Resort, and the Lyft app will show you the fare estimate before you confirm the ride. Prices go up at busy times of day, and also when there are fewer drivers available.

That means Minnie Vans cost more than a regular Lyft ride. And of course add additional cost beyond Disney’s complimentary transportation options. However for many families, the tradeoff is worth it for the time saved and the door-to-door convenience. And it can be a time-saving hack when you’re trying to switch resorts or get to a dining reservation!

Price averages $40 to $50 per ride around Disney World property, depending on time of day and destination. (Rides during busy times of day, like when the park is closing, may have longer waits and higher costs.) Costs are higher from the airport, currently closer to $200 one-way to get back and forth from MCO to Disney World.

Can You Use a Car Seat in Disney’s Minnie Vans?

Yes! There are two carseats available in the Minnie Van, and this is one of the best features of Minnie Van service for families!

Each standard Minnie Van is equipped with 2 child safety seats, and they install them for you. These child seats are complimentary with your ride.

That can make a big difference if you’re traveling with toddlers or preschoolers and don’t want to bring your own bulky seat just for transportation around Disney World.

Are Minnie Vans Accessible?

Yes. Disney offers an Accessible Minnie Van option through the Lyft app.

Disney says any guest can request an Accessible Minnie Van, and guests do not need to use the accessibility features in order to book one. Accessible Minnie Vans include seating for 5 people, one complimentary car seat, and 2 spaces for mobility devices.

Our Thoughts on Using Minnie Vans

Minnie Vans are a great option for early morning theme park arrivals, transferring between resorts on a split stay, or if you want to arrive right by the front gate of Magic Kingdom. (Which can be especially helpful if you’re trying to arrive on time for a dining reservation there!)

We don’t use them for every ride share that we take at Disney World, but they are especially helpful during certain timeframes. They add a nice, elevated, Disney-oriented experience to add to your trip. If you’re staying at an outer resort like Animal Kingdom Lodge and prefer not to use the buses, Minnie Van service can be a great way to arrive comfortably at the theme park!
