Space 220 Restaurant Review | EPCOT Dining

Dining at Space 220 in EPCOT is undoubtedly a one-of-a-kind experience, taking guests on a simulated journey 220 miles above Earth to enjoy a meal in a futuristic space station.

I’ve tried this experience a few different times, and definitely came away with some thoughts. The ambiance is impressive, with massive digital windows showcasing stunning views of outer space, making it feel truly immersive.

However, while the theming is spectacular, the food quality and overall value left us feeling underwhelmed. Let’s go over the high points – and low points – of this EPCOT theme park restaurant.

Overview of Space 220 Restaurant

Space 220 Restaurant has a unique dining atmosphere that captures the thrill of space travel. The design and experience aims to immerse you in a futuristic world, offering opportunities to space through the large windows around the room.

Space 220 Menu Selections

The menu at Space 220 features a prix fixe dining experience, offering a selection of appetizers, entrées, and desserts inspired by modern American cuisine with a futuristic twist. There’s also an extensive drink menu and the drinks were well done if you’re dining and up for a libation.

Guests can choose from dishes like Blue Moon Cauliflower, Galactic Salmon, and Interstellar Steak & Frites, but while the presentation is creative, the overall food quality is just average for the high price point.

On different dining occasions at the restaurant, I’ve tried both the Mangala Roasted Chicken and the Gemini Burger. Both were a decent choice, although I think the burger slightly edged out the chicken.

The standout part of the meal was definitely the dessert though! It was beautifully presented and delicious. My favorite has been Bode’s Swirl, which is shown above.

Reservations and Planning

If Space 220 is on your “must do” dining list, here are our top tips for scoring this reservation!

Booking in Advance

Reservations fill up quickly for Space 220, so you’ll want to get your dining reservation in advance. They open up at 60 days (plus length of stay for Disney Resort guests) and you should make sure to put it on your list to look for openings as close to that 60-day mark as possible.

If no reservations are available at your preferred time, you can use a service like MouseDining to be notified when a reservation comes available.

Additionally, Space 220 offers a lounge experience that you can also make reservations for through the app. You’ll be seated in the bar area, but this can be a convenient option for smaller parties or couples dining at the restaurant.

Meal Pricing

This is where the Space 220 experience starts to fall apart, in my opinion. The prix fixe menu includes an appetizer, entrée, and dessert for a premium price, with adult meals costing $55 for lunch and $79 for dinner per person.

After visiting twice, I just cannot justify the massive price tag. For our family of four to dine (with two tweens/teens that are charged at the adult price), this meal at dinner comes in at an eye-popping $316 for the meal, plus gratuities. Essentially bringing the total meal price to just shy of $400! (Ouch!)

Given that the restaurant is located in EPCOT, where immense cuisine options abound, Space 220 just cannot compete at that price.

If you want to try this one, I recommend trying it during the lunch meal so that the price is slightly cheaper. (Menu remains almost the same.) Additionally, coming here as a date night or with friends would make it cheaper than going as a family.

However it’s a restaurant at Disney World where many families will plan to visit, and we try to recommend our favorites with families in mind… this would not be even near the top of the list for restaurants at EPCOT.

To be noted, the character dining experience at Garden Grill or Akershus Royal Banquet Hall are both less expensive than dining at Space 220. And these two character dining experiences also include multiple courses and your dessert. (And characters!)

Rating Space 220 Restaurant at EPCOT

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Overall, we rate Space 220 a 3 out of 5 stars. While it may be a must-do for space enthusiasts or first-time visitors who want the unique atmosphere, we wouldn’t consider it a go-to dining spot for food quality or value alone.

If it’s on your Disney bucket list, we recommend going for lunch instead of dinner to save a bit on cost. Otherwise, if you’re looking for a truly memorable dining experience at EPCOT, there are better options for both food and value elsewhere in the park.
