Grand Floridian Resort

This is Disney’s flagship resort and if you are looking for a stay with an elegant feel and easy access to Magic Kingdom, this resort should be considered! There is monorail service to get you over to Magic Kingdom. And if you feel like walking, there is a pathway that is a reasonable walk away from the iconic theme park as well.

While this resort is more expensive on this list, it can be a good choice for the holiday season or a special occasion. This resort is one of my top picks for adults, as it can feel a little more formal. Also, keep in mind that getting to EPCOT is a little more difficult from this resort.

Polynesian Village Resort

The Polynesian Village Resort is absolutely beautiful and really will make you feel like you are staying somewhere tropical! This is one of our family’s favorite resort options!

The restaurants here are also some of our absolute favorites, such as Ohana and Trader Sam’s. As an added bonus, this is the only resort that has a quick service window where you can get Dole Whips right on site.

Contemporary Resort

The Contemporary Resort is super convenient if you are planning on spending most or all of your visit at Magic Kingdom. There is a walking path that takes you right over to the front entrance of the theme park.

contemporary resort

Disney’s Contemporary Resort has more of a retro feel to the rooms that also have an Incredibles theme. It also has some amazing restaurants, and we love stopping by Chef Mickey’s on our trips, even if we aren’t staying here! This is a nostalgic choice that is fun to visit, although not near the top of our list to stay at for a resort.

Wilderness Lodge

This resort is one of our favorite places to stay because it feels like an escape after a day at the park. It’s especially beautiful around the holidays and we love the lodge feel here!

Wilderness Lodge feels really special and tucked away, even though you are still really close to Magic Kingdom. You can even see the Magic Kingdom fireworks from this resort!

You’ll need to use the boats or bus for transportation here, but if you love the idea of coming back to a calm and cozy resort after your busy day, this is the place to stay!

Fort Wilderness (The Cabins at Fort Wilderness)

This truly is a unique stay experience! There are so many fun activities for families like horseback riding, sing-alongs, and more.

fort wilderness

The cabins offer plenty of individual sleeping spaces and kitchens so you have plenty of room. There is so much to do here and its so large that you can even just spend a full day hanging around Fort Wilderness!

Fort Wilderness can be reached by boat from Magic Kingdom. There are also camping options here if you prefer or are bringing an RV.

Convenience of Traveling the Monorail of Disney World

The monorail connects Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and select Disney resorts, making it a convenient transportation option for guests staying on property or park-hopping between these locations.

The monorail makes travel fast and convenient, and it’s stroller-friendly. I have a full guide on the Disney World Monorail here.
